Articles, emails, anything readable — into Eddy’s queue on Mac, into your ears on the train.
Right-click any text, share from your browser, paste from anywhere. Things land in the queue with a thumbnail and a clean title.
Pick the voice — one of Eddy’s own (free) or one of yours from OpenAI, Cartesia, or ElevenLabs. Eddy turns it into audio while you keep working.
Your iPhone picks the queue up over your own iCloud — encrypted by Apple, scoped to you. Nothing passes through us.
Podcast-style controls on Mac and iPhone. Send a single item to a friend with a link — they don’t need Eddy to listen.
Bring your own voice
Five voices to pick from — some free on your Mac, others on your own account with the provider. Pay nothing, or pay what you’d pay anyway.
Apple won’t let you plug your own ElevenLabs account into their dictation. Eddy will.
Built for how you actually work
The small things other dictation apps drop — pasting into the wrong app, juggling a clipboard, fumbling a focus — Eddy just handles.
A little company while you work
Eddy notices your streaks, your milestones, the hour of the day you do your best work — and reads it back to you on Sunday morning.
“you’re a morning dictator — 84% of your words land before 10am. you crossed the marathon milestone on wednesday. nicely done.”
Day to day
Hold a key, speak, let go. Your words appear right where the cursor is — in any app, any text field.
Free on your Mac by default. Your voice never leaves the laptop unless you choose to send it to a cloud voice.
Highlight any text, tap a key, and Eddy reads it back through your speakers.
Eddy’s own voices are free. Want OpenAI, Cartesia, or ElevenLabs? Paste in your account — they show up in the picker.
How it works
Drag him into Applications, paste in the code I send you. About thirty seconds, start to finish.
Start free with Eddy’s own voices. If you have an OpenAI, Cartesia, or ElevenLabs account, paste it in and you’ll see those voices in the picker too.
Hold your shortcut, talk, let go. Your words appear right where you’re typing.
Highlight some text, tap, listen — right now, or queued up for the train ride home.
Across surfaces
The TellEddy companion app on iPhone is free and picks up your Mac queue automatically. No servers in between.
Privacy
Stays on your Mac by default. Eddy’s own voices and Apple’s voices both run right on your laptop. Your voice never leaves it — unless you choose to use a cloud voice.
Your accounts, your bill. Cloud voices (OpenAI, Cartesia, ElevenLabs, Anthropic) connect straight from your Mac to those providers on your own account. No TellEddy server in the middle. Your account details stay in your Mac’s keychain.
Listen Later syncs through your iCloud. Your queue moves between Mac and iPhone over your own iCloud — encrypted by Apple, scoped to you. We have no servers, no analytics on what you queue or listen to, and no view into any of it.
