New in TellEddy
Listen Later.
A reading queue that lives on your Mac and follows you to your iPhone. Drop in an article, an email, anything readable; pick the voice you want; pick it up later on your phone.
How it works
- Drop it in. Right-click any text, share from your browser, paste from anywhere. Things land in the queue with a thumbnail and a clean title.
- Pick the voice you want. Free with Eddy’s own voices, or use a voice from your OpenAI, Cartesia, or ElevenLabs account. Eddy gets it ready while you keep working.
- Across to your iPhone. Your iPhone picks the queue up over your own iCloud — encrypted by Apple, scoped to you, nothing routed through us.
- Play, scrub, share. Familiar controls on Mac and iPhone. Send any one piece to a friend over a link — they don’t need Eddy to listen.
How it’s different from Pocket, Readwise, or Snipd
Other read-later apps run their own servers and lock you to their voice. Listen Later runs on your iCloud with the voice you pick — nothing in the middle, no per-listen fee, no captive voice library. Free with Eddy’s own voices; use your own account for the premium ones and pay the provider directly.
Privacy
Syncing happens over your own iCloud. We have no servers, run no analytics on what you queue or listen to, and see nothing of it. The accounts for cloud voices live in your Mac’s keychain; Eddy talks to those providers straight from your laptop.
Listen Later is part of TellEddy 0.7 and up. The iPhone companion is in TestFlight — download the Mac app, then email Drew to get on the list.
